Library

Cover crops growing at Spice Creek Farm protect and enrich the soil, maintaining ground cover while improving soil health in preparation for future planting.

Spice Creek Library is a living archive dedicated to preserving Black memory and Africana diasporic ways of knowing often pushed to the margins. Built in public and with intention, the Library collects and circulates materials that hold memory—audio, print, objects, recipes, and art—carefully described, digitized, and stewarded. The collection includes recordings, books and ephemera, garments and objects, culinary records, and visual art. Access is offered through a private collection, a viewing-only reading/listening room, and a small selection available for purchase. Materials are acquired by purchase or donation following review and authentication, prioritizing items that document Black lived experience and fill gaps in the historical record. The Library honors creators, communities, and prior stewards, safeguarding what must not be lost.
